1. What insurance do you take?

We take all PPO insurances, plus Cigna HMO. We also take MediCal, which pays for qualifying cases. And, of course, we also accept cash for patients without insurance.

2. What counts as a qualifying case with the MediCal program?

MediCal has a very specific exam, which involves the doctor documenting the presence of varying conditions of the teeth, each of which is assigned a certain point value. If you qualify at 26 points or above, have no baby teeth, and are between the ages of 13-20, we can ask MediCal to approve your case. If they do, they cover 100% of the treatment costs. In addition, there are certain automatically qualifying conditions, such as cleft palate.

3. Do I need an appointment? When are you open?

Appointments are REQUIRED. We are a busy office and cannot easily accommodate walk-in visits. Our hours are from 8:30-12:00 and 1:30-5:00, weekdays. Our scheduled days in our two offices vary, so calling ahead ensures that we will be in the office you wish to be seen in, and that we have adequate time set aside especially for you.

4. Do you offer payment plans? What forms of payment do you accept?

Yes, we offer payment plans and are usually able to offer several different options so that our patients can select the one best suited to their needs. We accept cash, check, debit, and credit (Visa, Mastercard, & American Express).

5. Do you treat children only?

No, we treat many adults. The age range at our practice includes people from 6 to 72 years old.

6. Do you offer INVISALIGN?

At this time, we do not offer that service as Dr. Jo does not believe the evidence for the benefits of Invisalign outweigh the risks of less optimal outcomes, greater risk of relapse and additional costs that the treatment would require. In short, it has not been shown to be as effective as traditional orthodontic treatment. However, we do offer clear brackets to those who are more comfortable with that option.

7. Do you treat children with disabilities?

Yes, we do, as long as the child can be reasonably cooperative and does not require sedation.

8. Do I need a referral from a dentist to get an appointment with your office?

No, you do not. You can make an appointment with or without having a referral.

9. Do you do other types of dental work besides orthodontics?

No, we do not. We choose to be the best at the one thing we do, which is to give you a winning smile.
